Following a two day trial this week a Brighton woman was convicted of two drug related charges. A Washington County jury found 37-year-old Pebblie Beal guilty of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, she was acquitted of a possession of methamphetamine charge. On June 28, 2013, Beal was a front seat passenger in a car stopped by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. After the car was stopped, a K9 unit alerted to the presence of a controlled substance coming from the front passenger’s door and a purse belonging to Beal was found containing two items used to smoke marijuana, a clear plastic baggie containing a substance determined to be marijuana and a tube commonly used to smoke methamphetamine.

The Washington County Attorney’s office, Washington Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa DCI Criminalistics laboratory and the Washington County Clerk’s Office assisted with the case.
