It was recently announced a bicycling event this summer will bring riders down to Washington County. The 100 mile and 60 mile route selected for the granGable has participants riding through Hills on 520th Street, past Kalona on 540th Street and down Ginkgo Avenue into Wellman. The granGable is scheduled for August 31st, and will begin and end in Iowa City, in conjunction with Fry Fest and the first home game for the University of Iowa football team.
Proceeds from the race, named after wrestling coach Dan Gable, go to the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and Hawkeye Wrestling Club.
