The Demon track and field teams head in different directions tonight for different meets.

The Demon girls will head to the Pen City Relays in Ft. Madison, while the boys go to Wapello.

The temperature will still be low by meet time, which will cause this meet to be cooler than most track coaches would like it to be.

Demon boys head coach Steve Roth said tonight’s meet may be more of a glorified practice than for anything really competitive. That will have to wait for Thursday.

“I’ve already made the decision, we need to be fresh for Thursday, because we still have like five or six events on the bubble for the Drake Relays so I really want to be fresh for those. [Tonight] I’m going to run a lot of young kids who haven’t got to run in awhile,” Roth said. “We’re going to go to Wapello this year like we did last, but I’m going to run a lot of young kids, I may run the varsity guys in one event only, find a different event that they haven’t competed in this year and get them pepped up for a new event, and then really try and set our sights on Thursday.”

Tonight’s Pen City Relays start at 5 P.M. at Ft. Madison, while the Wapello meet will start at 4:30.
