Area agencies responded to five fires in the county yesterday afternoon. Kalona Fire Department, Washington Fire Department, Ainsworth Fire Department, Riverside Fire Department and Wellman Fire Department responded to the incidents. There were two field fires in Ainsworth that were out of control, a field fire near Riverside Road in Washington that began as a controlled burn but was out of control, and a field fire near Orange Avenue near Kalona that later rekindled. No injuries were reported.
