Friends of Lake Darling is looking to double it’s cabin project this summer and fall. The organization is asking the Washington County Board of Supervisors to consider a gift of $15,000 to $20,000 which would be matched dollar for dollar by a private donor. In addition, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources would match up to $200,000 of total funds collected. Dr. Faye Vittetoe presented the project to the supervisors at yesterday’s meeting. The project would mean that in total six four-season or year-round cabins would be built in Lake Darling State Park.

Three cabins will be paid with a Washington County Riverboat Grant for nearly $300,000 which was presented in December.

The Supervisors decided to table the item for a week or two so they could review the budget.
