The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission decided not to allow another casino in the state yesterday. At their meeting, the commission voted 4 to 1 against granting a gambling license for a casino proposed in Cedar Rapids.

Washington Economic Development Group Director Ed Raber, who attended the meeting, says with the information available to the commission, he had a feeling they would deny the application.

Two studies conducted earlier this year projected the Riverside Casino would lose around 30 to 40% of their annual revenue if a casino was built in Cedar Rapids. Raber explains those predictions backup the findings of  a study done before the Riverside Casino was built, which said it would mainly serve the Corridor.
