Playing their most complete game of the season to date, the #3 Mid-Prairie boys soccer team handled visiting Williamsburg Monday night by a 7-0 score. All-stater Austin Errthum got the offensive fireworks underway early for the Hawks, scoring in the first seven minutes. In the 13th minute Wyatt Cady added a header off of a corner kick to make it 2-0. Errthum knocked in his second of the night in the 38th minute to make the score 3-0 Mid-Prairie headed to the half.

Mid-Prairie kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half as Abdul Msabah made it 4-0 in the 55th minute. In the 63rd minute it was Riley Sieren’s turn as he made it 5-0 Hawks. Dayton Hall cashed in a Golden Hawk penalty kick in the 68th minute to make it 6-0 and Dustin Yoder wrapped up the Mid-Prairie scoring with a goal in the 76th minute. Following the game Head Coach Pat Cady talked about the number of players who saw the field and how they stepped up in the offensive end.

“We did a lot better job of dropping the ball back, building out of the back. We try to encourage these guys to be patient, build out, spread the other team out, make the other team create gaps. With about 10 minutes left in the first half, because we were building out, out first pass in the second half was up to a forwards feet. It was a pass that he could actually turn and go to goal with, and that is what we are trying to teach these guys, it’s there, just have the patience,” Cady said. “You know you have your two usual’s with Wyatt and Austin they come through, but then you start seeing the new faces like Abdul, he gets a goal, Maher had a couple of good opportunities, keeper made a good save, you’ve got Jordan Ulin up there, he’s taking shots now, Dayton got a score, and then you have Dustin Yoder at the end of the game.”

With the win Mid-Prairie is now 5-1 on the season and travels to #11 Albia Thursday.
