Those who stay up late enough tonight should be able to see the lunar eclipse. The event begins at around 11:50, with the total eclipse occurring at 2:45. According to NASA, the total eclipse will last an hour and 18 minutes. The eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth. This only happens when the Sun, Earth and full Moon are aligned. The next lunar eclipse is on October 8th.
