The Mid-Prairie girls golf team played in a 14 team tournament yesterday in a field of very large schools and finished ninth.

In attendance was Pleasant Valley, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Washington, Prairie, Jefferson and Kennedy, Linn-Mar, Cedar Falls, North Scott, Waterloo West, Marion, Clinton and Anamosa,

The Golden Hawks came in with a team score of 417, with Allyson Wertz posting the low score of 93 for the team, Courtney Cayton came in with a 98, Sydney Scarff with a 112 and Mick VanWinkle added a 114 to round out the scores.

Head coach Tracy McArtor said his girls showed a lot of toughness to play against some of the top competition in larger classes, and to do so on a difficult course.

Pleasant Valley and Cedar Rapids Xavier won the meet with 348, but Mid-Prairie did beat Waterloo West, Marion, Clinton and Anamosa.

Mid-Prairie is back to the links on Friday at Iowa Valley.
