Mid-Prairie has won a statewide contest for the second year in a row. The K through 12 Live Healthy Iowa Wellness Challenge had students record their physical activity and intake of foods like fruits and vegetables.

This year, Mid-Prairie School District again had the highest participation, with over 97% of the student body taking part. In recognition of their accomplishment, Mid-Prairie will keep the travelling K through 12 cup for another year.

Superintendent Mark Schneider says as a reward for winning last year, students were released two hours early the day before winter break. Confident in their chances of winning again this year, another early release for winter break is already included in next school year’s calendar.
