The MRAP has arrived in downtown Washington. This morning the MRAP was parked at the Washington Police Station. It is a Mine-Resistant Ambush Proteced vehicle which is a six-wheeled armored truck that the Washington Police Department got through the 1033 program with the military.

Police Chief Greg Goodman and Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar have explained that the MRAP is a tool that their departments will be able to use to help keep personnel safe. Also, it will be able to reach areas that other emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, can’t get to after straight line winds or in very deep snow.
