Riverside’s Fire Department was one of many called to assist with a fire in southeastern Iowa City Tuesday afternoon. The Iowa City Fire Department was called to a commercial building at 2339 Heinz Road at around 3:15. While fighting the fire, the roof of the warehouse collapsed and there were multiple explosions.
Fire departments from Solon, West Branch, Hills, Coralville, North Liberty, Riverside, Lone Tree and Tiffin responded to assist on scene and man Iowa City’s fire station.
Iowa City Fire Battalion Chief, Eric Nurnberg, says the building is likely a complete loss.
