In an area boys soccer battle Saturday, the #13 Columbus Wildcats used a big second half to beat IMS in Kalona 4-1. Iowa Mennonite got on the board first with a counter attack goal in the sixth minute from Alex Kurtz.

Columbus had a goal waved off in the 22nd minute, following a free kick offside call. The Wildcats did even things up in the 38th minute when Alex Paz beat the keeper.

The second half belonged to the Wildcats. With the wind now in their favor they put a lot of pressure on the IMS defense and began cashing in.

The last 11 minutes turned into the Alex Cruz show, as he posted the very late natural hat trick. Cruz scored his first in the 69th minute to give the Wildcats the lead, he would go on to score break away insurance goals in the 79th and 80th minutes to put the game out of reach.

With the win Columbus is now 4-3 on the season and will next take on Burlington Notre Dame Tuesday. IMS falls to 3-3 and gets ready to host Central Lee Tuesday.
