The Substate boys soccer pairings have been released for the area schools, and all the area teams look to be setup for success.

Starting with 1A Substate 6 Mid-Prairie avoids Regina and West Liberty and will get a bye and home field advantage throughout the tournament. IMS will play Chariton in the first round on May 27, and the winner will face the Golden Hawks. On the bottom of the bracket Pella Christian and Williamsburg play in the first round, while Albia has the bye.

Mid-Prairie head coach Pat Cady said this is the best situation they could have hoped for, but that IMS and the other teams in the group are still very good.

“If there is any a time that you put all of your money in the bank, this is the one. We got away from Regina, West Liberty, that team that we fight down to the end every time, they’re in another bracket also,” Cady said. “So this gives us a chance to just play Mid-Prairie soccer, and if these guys come out and play like they are supposed to play, we’ve got a good shot at taking it to Des Moines.”

In Substate 4, Highland plays a first round game against Cedar Valley Christian, while Regina gets the bye, and on the bottom of the bracket West Liberty takes on Prince of Peace Prep, and Marquette Catholic plays Northeast Goose Lake

In Substate 5, Columbus Junction takes on Wapello in the first round, while MEPO and Burlington Notre Dame play in the other first round game on the bottom. On the top of the bracket, Central Lee plays Holy Trinity Catholic, while Danville gets the bye.

In 2A Subsate 5, Washington finds themselves in a conference battle plus Clear Creek Amana. Washington takes on Mt. Pleasant first round, while Fairfield gets the bye, and in the top of the bracket Ft. Madison plays Keokuk first, while Clear Creek- Amana gets the bye.

First round games are all played on May 27.
