The Mid-Prairie girls soccer team got back to action for the first time in over a week when they hosted the West Liberty Comets Monday night. Mid-Prairie avenged an early season defeat at the hands of the Comets with a 1-0 win. In Mid-Prairie’s first game without Juniors Ashley Miller and Cassidy Bontrager due to injury, the first half was a defensive battle as the two teams entered the break in a scoreless tie.

In half number two Mid-Prairie got the lone goal of the contest when Anne Buckwalter picked the pocket of a West Liberty midfielder with an expert challenge and then placed the ball in the top corner of the net. From that point, the Golden Hawks maintained momentum and the advantage on the scoreboard to take home a 1-0 win. Mid-Prairie is now 4-3, and on a four game winning streak heading into a Thursday night conference showdown at #5 Iowa City Regina.
