A multi-year agreement between PAWS and More animal shelter and the City of Washington was approved at this week’s city council meeting. City Administrator Brent Hinson explains the budget will increase by $1,000 each year until a maximum $19,000 is reached. The shelter regularly conducts trap, neuter and release programs for stray cats in the city, and takes in unclaimed and adoptable dogs from the dog pound at the wastewater plant.

The animal shelter recently received a Riverboat Foundation grant for $4,675 for wiring updates.
