The Washington Demon baseball and softball teams will showcase their teams and talents tonight on the baseball diamond.

Both teams will have their annual sports drink scrimmage between the two squads. Baseball will pitch baseballs and hit softballs, while the softball team will pitch softballs and hit baseballs.

This is a fun night for both teams, while also a sort of fundraiser as the admission to the game is a sports drink. After the game all of the sports drinks will be split up evenly between the two teams and used throughout the season.

Head baseball coach Nathan Miller said it is a nice and unique way to get the season started, and to get fans excited.

“It’s an opportunity to get the kids together and use kind of a unique way to introduce each of the teams to not just the parents, but to any baseball or softball fan, or just wants to come out and see who is on the teams this year and just kind of see them in a relaxed role where it is a friendly competition, but yet you get to see the kids swing a bat and throw,” Miller said. “Obviously with us playing opposite rules, it just kind of adds enough of a twist that it makes for a fun event for everyone to watch.”

He added that some of the boys have already been talking about defending their turf this year.

Tonight’s scrimmage is open to anyone, and starts at 6:45 at the baseball diamond.
