The Washington Demon track and field teams ran at Mt. Pleasant for their state qualifier meet last night, and at times ran through heavy down pours and sleet. The top two runners automatically qualified for state in 3A

The Demons had a few automatic qualifiers. Starting with the girls, Macy Marek was second in the 100 meter dash in 12.82 and the only automatic qualifier for the Demon girls, but with Assumption at the meet the Demons finished in third and in very good times which could set them up to qualify.

For the boys, Alex Coker was second in the 100 meter dash in 11.47, and he won the long jump at 21’5.25”. Tommy Peterson was the other automatic qualifier, finishing second in the shot put at 48’8.5”.

The Demon boys also have some third place finishes that they are watching closely to see if they make it to state.

KCII will have a full list of state qualifiers once it becomes official.
