Five Washington High School students received Iowa FFA degrees this week. Carter Hessletine, Tanner Knupp, Macy Marek, Brad Skubal and Colton Twinam received the highest degree an FFA member can earn from the Iowa FFA Association.

To receive the degree students have to be an active member for at least 24 months, complete at least two years of agricultural education instruction, work at least 300 hours in a supervised agricultural experience program or invest at least $1,000, have a satisfactory scholastic record, demonstrate leadership abilities, complete 25 hours of community service and participate in at least five different FFA activities above the local level. Approximately 5% of FFA members in Iowa receive the degree each year.
