For the second time this season Highland got the better of IMS by a single goal. Monday night it was the Huskies who took home a 3-2 Southeast Iowa Superconference win in Kalona. IMS opened the scoring at the end of the first half as Spencer Shrock had a shot deflect off of the Highland goal keeper to Eli Gingerich who found the back of the net to make it 1-0 IMS.

Defense dominated the next 30 minutes, making for a wild last 15. Highland tied the score at one with a header goal on a corner kick chance. Less than a minute later the Huskies took advantage of the momentum and beat the IMS keeper near post to take a 2-1 lead. The Huskies rush continued as IMS looked for the equalizer, Highland created another chance just three minutes later and found the back of the net one more time to make it 3-1. IMS wasn’t finished, with just two minutes remaining Kirby Shetler got Iowa Mennonite back within striking distance with a goal to make it 3-2. IMS had several chances in the final 90 seconds but could not get the equalizer. Scoring goal for Highland were Tyler Beers, Josh Brace and Bryan Garcia. With the win Highland is now 5-5 overall and will travel to Wapello Thursday night. IMS is 6-5 overall and will host top 15 Columbus on Thursday.
