The #6 Mid-Prairie boys soccer team hosted Washington and Fairfield for their weekend tournament Saturday. In game one it was the second edition of the Washington County rivalry match. This game was just as close as the first as the Golden Hawks edged the Demons with a 1-0 score. The only strike of the game came in the first five minutes as Wyatt Cady found the back of the net and the stingy Golden Hawk defense made the lone goal stand up.

In the afternoon game for Mid-Prairie the Golden Hawks took it to Fairfield, blasting the Trojans 5-0. Cady got the Hawks on the board early with a goal and Austin Errthum scored the next two for the Golden Hawks, giving Mid-Prairie a 3-0 advantage going to the break. In the second half Mid-Prairie kept the pressure on and got goals from Riley Sieren and Wade Stutzman to ice it. Following the game Head Coach Pat Cady talked about his team’s day.

“We did a good job of possession we emphasized that they were going to use the outside, and that we wanted to use the outside, they’re a possession team, we’re a possession team, one way to dominate the possession is to make sure you do better things with the ball. We need to play balls down to the corner more, they’re not going to be able to get organized and get out as fast,” Cady said. “We’re just blessed to have so many good kids that we don’t fall tremendously, everybody wants to go in, and all the kids understand that they may start one game and then not start for the next two games, and they understand they have a roll on this team and they keep their head up.”

With the sweep Mid-Prairie is now 9-2 and hosts Wapello tonight for Senior Night.
