The IMS boys soccer team scored another Southeast Iowa Superconference win Thursday night, blasting Wapello 6-2 in Kalona. IMS got things going early against the overly aggressive Wapello defense as Kirby Shetler found Alex Kurtz for a goal in the 10th minute to make it 1-0 IMS. Three minutes later Jacob Schmeider blasted one past the Indians keeper to make it 2-0 IMS. Michael Hershberger made it 3-0 Iowa Mennonite with a penalty kick goal. Kurtz got his second tally of the first half late in the frame to make it 4-0 IMS. Wapello would get a goal in the waning moments of the first half off of a direct kick to make it 4-1 at half.

The second half IMS put things out of reach in the 55th minute when Kobi Russom connected on a header with the assist from Spencer Schrock. In the 68th minute Schrock scored a goal of his own on an assist from Eli Gingerich. With the win IMS is now 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the SEISC. IMS will next be in action Saturday when they host their own four team tournament. They open play against Cedar Valley Christian at 10AM, the other side of the bracket is Fort Madison and Fairfield.
