A public hearing is set for Kalona’s amendment to the current fiscal year’s budget. The City Council set the hearing at this week’s meeting for their next meeting, which is coming up on Monday, May 19th. It will be held at 7pm before the meeting starts.

Kalona Mayor Ken Herington says the amendment is for miscellaneous purchases the city council approved during the course of the year.

For instance, the Fire Department received a $250,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. Herington says even though it was a pass through item, the budget still needs to reflect that it happened.
