A seed production plant has closed in Henry County. The over 50 employees at DuPont Pioneer’s Mount Pleasant location were laid off last week.

According to DuPont Pioneer spokesperson, Jane Slusark, they’re shifting production to newer plants in areas producing more seed. She says this is one of many steps the company is taking to promote growth. This follows a five year period where the company doubled its sales.

The Mount Pleasant plant was opened in 1984.
