Wellman residents should expect increases to their water and sewer rates this summer. The ordinance amendments have had two readings so far, and it’s possible the third and final will take place Monday.

For sewer, residents would pay $20.95 for the first 1,000 gallons beginning July 1st, an increase of around 5 dollars. That rate will then increase by 3% every fiscal year.

The city’s water rate for the first 1,000 gallons stays at $38.45 for fiscal year 2015, but like the sewer rate, it increases by 3% each subsequent fiscal year.

If the third reading is approved, the plan is going to be reviewed every two years to ensure the City is generating enough revenue to cover operational and maintenance costs, pay back loans, and to maintain adequate fund balances.
