Severe Thunderstorm Rolls Across Southeast Iowa

A thunderstorm warning was issued for Washington County at approximately 4:50 p.m. Monday and expired nearly an hour later at 5:40 p.m. Quarter-sized hail was reported in the Southeast corner of Washington County and into Louisa County. Downpours of rain were reported, as well as lightening. Also, a semi trailer traveling on Highway 218 reportedly blew over onto its side near the City of Olds.

Thirteen-hundredths of an inch of rain was received in Washington during the storm.

A severe thunderstorm watch continues for the area until 8 p.m.

KCII staff reported live from the station in Washington, keeping in contact with meteorologists and area officials. KCII team members also reported from the field in both Wellman and Ainsworth.
