Highland held a district and regional track meet last night, and here are the automatic state qualifiers for the area schools.
The WACO boys shuttle hurdle of Brett Hesseltine, Cornell Hulme, Bryce Achen and Dylan Carlson won in 1:01.74, the girls shuttle hurdle of Jalyssa Jepson, Aaliyah Brown, Kasey Sutton and Jennie Greene won in 1:13.7, the girls 4×200 of Trilby Frier, Angel Frier, Rosemary Skriver and Jennie Greene won in 1:54.29, Dylan Carlson won the 110 high hurdles in 16.07, and the WACO boys won the 4×100 meter relay with a team of Hesseltine, Achen, Hulme and Carlson in a time of 44.49 to go to state.
For Highland, Evan Mahler won the 3200 meter run in 10:19.01, Kelsey Hora won the 100 meter dash in 13.43, Chris Ford won the 400 meter dash in 51.71, Mahler won the 1600 in 4:45.05, Hora came back and won the 200 meter dash for the girls in 27.59, the girls won the sprint medley with a team of Cheyann Adamson, Jordan Rath, Sam Duttom and Kelsey Hora in 1:57.63, Kody Wood won the 800 for the boys in 2:05.21 an the girls won the 4×400 with a team of Dutton, Chelsey Lampe, Amber Bean and Kelsey Hora.
For Lone Tree, Jovonte Squires won the long jump at 20’9.5”, Jared Hudson won the 200 meter dash in 23.67, and they won the distance medley with Drake Hotz, Nick Viner, Travis Gillham and Jake Viner in 3:52.6.
WMU had their boys 4×400 qualify with Kyler Smith Levi Giese, Bryce Robison and Max Fricke in 3:38.21.
Iowa Mennonite had no automatic qualifiers, but Riley Schmieder has a chance on time with her second place finish in the 1500 of 5:23, and her third place finish in the 3000 of 11:18.71.
All of the winners go to state, while any finishers behind first have to wait until later today to see if they will go to state.
