The 2014 state track and field meet starts today, and here is the schedule for the first day.

The morning session will feature 1A and 4A schools.

The girls shuttle hurdle relay starts things off at 9 AM with WACO running in the prelims.

Riley Schmieder will run the 3000 at 9:40 for IMS, and at 10:10 Keiffer Sexton and Evan Mahler of Highland and Gavin Bencze of WMU run the 3200. Kelsey Hora runs the 100 meter dash prelims at 10:40.

At 12:40 Hora runs the 200 meter dash prelims, followed by Jared Hudson of Lone Tree at 1 P.M. At 1:20, Paige Dohrman of Lone Tree runs the 400 meter dash final, and at 1:40 Chris Ford of Highland and Max Fricke of WMU run the 400 meter dash final.

Wrapping up the first day of running for 1A is the WACO boys shuttle hurdle.

In the afternoon session, 2A and 3A schools will run.

1A will be long jumping today with the boys at 9 AM, and Jovonte Squires and Jared Hudson of Lone Tree competing, while the girls go at 11:30 with Karlie Wade of WMU, and Jennie Green of WACO for the girls.

In the afternoon session, the Washington boys shuttle hurdle starts it off at 2:40. Next is the 100 meter dash prelims with Lexi Duwa of Mid-Prairie running first at 4:20, and for 3A Macy Marek will run for Washington. Right after the girls at 4:35, Mauricio Ramirez of Columbus Junction runs the 100 meter dash prelims, and after him Alex Coker of Washington runs for 3A.

The Mid-Prairie girls 4×800 will run at 4:50, at 6:20 Lexi Duwa runs in the 200 prelims, following by Marek of Washington. The boys run at 6:40 with Ramirez of Columbus Junction. At 7, Morgan Kimball runs the 400 meter dash final for Washington, and after her Noah Lebsack will run it for the boys, and capping off the night of running is the Washington girls shuttle hurdle at 7:40.

Field events for the first day include Levi Duwa of Mid-Prairie in the shot put at 4:30, and Ramirez in the long jump for Columbus at 2 PM.
