Dr. Faye Vittetoe addresses the Washington County Board of Supervisors.

Friends of Lake Darling is $15,000 closer to their goal to build six cabins at the state park this year. Yesterday the Washington County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a gift of $10,000 this fiscal year and $5,000 next fiscal year to help the cabin effort. While discussing the monetary gift, Supervisors Richard Young stated the board needed to consider the return on dollars spent, on the big picture of the economic impact on the county.

Also, Washington County Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski stated she supports the park as a healthy option for families to exercise and spend time together.

In closing, Dr. Faye Vittetoe with Friends of Lake Darling applauded the supervisors for the contribution and the effects it will have on the park and its legacy.

The six cabins will be handicap accessible and available for rent year round, as they will be heated and cooled. The project will be bid out this summer and ground is expected to break later this year.
