A Washington Police Department SUV was intentionally hit by fleeing suspects at the scene of an investigation early Saturday morning. According to the Communications Center, a burlgarly in progress with two people involved was reported at 2210 Larch Avenue, Washington, at approximately 1:20 a.m. Law enforcement personnel responded to the scene, that is when one of the suspects driving a GMC Yukon hit the SUV. At that time one suspect was taken into custody immediately and the other was found with the assistance of a K9 officer.

The two suspects are from Centralia, Illinois; 39-year-old Donald King was charged with burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, trespass and assault on a peace officer while 26-year-old Mark S. Grimes was charged with burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, trespass and interference with officials acts. Bond was set at $25,000 for each.

No injuries were reported, however one officer was taken to the Washington County Hospital emergency room for evaluation and was released. Washington Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and Adult Probation officials responded to the scene.
