The Washington Demons travel North today to face the No. 2 team in 1A Highland.

Washington won their first game of the season on Tuesday 13-0, but Highland has won three games in three days coming into this one.

Washington is 1-0, and got a fabulous no-hitter outing from Ashley Raush, with six strikeouts. The issue is there were not many defensive plays for Washington to be tested, and in the four that there were, Rausch made one of the put-outs. The Demons are still young and will be tested tonight. Offensively, Washington had everyone in the lineup but one player get hits in their first game, and everyone scored runs.

Highland is 3-0, beating Louisa-Muscatine, Central Lee and Mediapolis, and scoring 30 runs in three games.

Katie Springer is 2-0 and pitched last night, so the Demons may see Katie Chalupa who has a 1.17 ERA. Offensively, up and down the lineup, Highland sees solid hitting.

Tonight’s game is at Highland with a 7:30 start time, and you can hear it right here on AM and FM KCII with pregame at 7, and first pitch at 7:30. The one to count on for today’s local sports coverage is AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com.
