Work continues on the State Theater in Washington. This week the Washington City Council approved a four foot bump-out area under the marquee to help protect it. Sarah Sadrakula, Main Street Washington director, states renovations are going well and depending on the weather, everything will be complete by June 1st except for the front doors and the marquee.
The remaining projects are expected to be finished by the end of the summer. The marquee will be restored with a smiliar color scheme and new LED lights.
In March, a delivery truck struck the marquee. Sadrakula told KCII News the renovation process has taken some time because Fridley Theaters has been working with the State Historical Preservation Office to get state and federal tax credits.
