It’s state tournament time for the Columbus Junction boys soccer team, and the Wildcats will start with the top team in the state.

Columbus opens play against Dyersville Beckman, who is 19-1 on the season, and has only given up 14 goals all year.

The Wildcats have one of the points leader in teams that are still alive in the entire state of Iowa regardless of class in Alex Cruz with 73 points, 29 goals and 15 assists. After Cruz, the production drops significantly to Bryan Santiago with nine goals and six assists. In net, the Wildcats look to Kenan Todd, who had 11 scored on him in 57 shots all season.

Dyersville Beckman comes in with Kyle Grover, who sits third in points for the whole state regardless of class with 65 points, 30 goals and five assists. The difference in the teams comes from the number two and three players. Jared Lueken comes in No. 2 with 12 goals and 15 assists, and Carter Boekholder in third has 14 goals and three assists. In net for Dyersville Beckman is Trent Westhoff who only had 31 shots put on net all season and let in 12.
