A committee that will assist with contract negations between the City of Riverside and Riverside Casino was formed at this week’s city council meeting. Riverside City Administrator and Economic Development Director, Rusty Rogerson, will also take part in the negotiations. He’s in the process of setting up a meeting with casino management.

Up for discussion is the contract between the city and casino that expires July 1st. The City of Riverside received around $950,000 this fiscal year through the agreement.

When Riverside was putting together the upcoming year’s budget, the casino was unable to commit to another contract. They were awaiting the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission’s decision on the proposed casino in Cedar Rapids that was projected to take up to 40% of their annual revenue. The commission decided not to grant a gaming license for the casino in April.
