The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is no longer seeking obligations from Washington County, however the board of supervisors is trying to seek an agreement with a Rubio property owner regarding purchase of an individual mechanical system. In March, the supervisors were addressed by Steve and Rebecca Klopfenstein, who had a system put in place by RUSS. Last year the county paid RUSS for the work in Richmond and Rubio and now the Klopfensteins wish to purchase their system from the county.

The Klopfensteins have offered $8,000 for the system which originally cost $16,625.84. The supervisors have agreed to seek the full cost of the system and have directed County Attorney Larry Brock to draft a letter and will further discuss the case in future meetings. If a cost is not agreed upon it may go to District Court.
