The Demon baseball team plays host to Fairfield tonight in the first meeting between these two ball clubs.

Washington is 8-6 after beating Fort Madison in a makeup double header on Friday.

Washington is led at the plate by Walker Breard with a .457 average and three homers on the year, while Tanner Knupp and Jacob Green take the two and three spots on the team with .400 averages or better. The bottom of the order is still low in their average, but against Mid-Prairie everyone had hits to help with their averages. On the mound, it is a battle of the young and the old. Elijah Wood is the top ace for Washington with a .72 ERA, 27 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .235 off of him, but Zach Londberg comes in at 3-0 with a 1.97 ERA after a no-hitter on the Golden Hawks last Tuesday.

Fairfield comes in ranked and with some monsters at the plate. Mason Ellis is hitting .467, while both Narendra Martin and Cameron Baumann are hitting .444. Eight players are hitting .327 or better for the Trojans. On the mound, Joseph Hietpas is 3-0 on the year with a .68 ERA, while Wyatt Stark is 5-1 with a .93 ERA and 27 strikeouts.

Tonight’s game is at Washington with a 5:30 start time for game one, with game two to follow.
