The Washington Demon baseball team split with Durant over the weekend, dropping game one 13-7, but picking up a 9-4 win in game two.

Washington travels down to Keokuk tonight for their second double header against the Chiefs. The last time these two teams met up at Washington things ended a little salty, as Keokuk continued to steal and bunt and run with a large lead in the seventh, and ended up winning 14-4.

Washington’s bats have stayed in the same order, with Walker Breard leading the way with a .411 average, 20 RBI’s, and four homers, while Tanner Knupp is second with a .379, and Jacob Green third with a .367. On the mound, Elijah Wood did get some work in recently, and lowered his ERA to a .53 with 42 strikeouts and opponents hit just .192 off of him.

Keokuk is led by the half time hitter in Austin Almon. Almon is hitting .506 on the year with 16 RBI’s. Brandt Ames is the second bat with a .403 average, but outside of those two, the averages are all below .300. On the mound for Keokuk, Dakota Shaw is their top arm with a 4-1 record and 2.08 ERA, but close behind is Ames with a 3-0 record and 2.03 ERA.

Tonight’s game is at Keokuk with a 5:30 start time for game one with game two to follow.
