The Washington Demon softball team split in the opening day of the Muscatine tournament yesterday.

It started with a much need 12-0 victory over Davenport Central. Ashley Rausch threw a three inning no hitter with five strikeouts, while eight of the nine Demons in the order got hits.

In game two, the Demons were on the other side of the mercy rule, losing to Muscatine 10-0. Washington had four hits in the game that ended in the fifth inning.

Today’s games are a pair of tough ones as well, as Washington will face West Burlington for the fourth time this season. Washington is 1-2 against them, winning their first game 6-0, and then losing two at home 11-10 and 1-0. Washington will cap off the tournament with a struggling Louisa-Muscatine team.

Today’s first game against West Burlington starts a 10 AM this morning with the final game to follow.
