An adult emerald ash borer has been positively identified in Johnson County, but experts have not been able to pinpoint where it came from. The Iowa EAB Team didn’t uncover an infestation during their follow-up examination of ash trees growing where the beetle was collected in Iowa City. A statewide quarantine has been in effect since February, in the hopes of saving some of the state’s ash trees from the insect’s larvae. The quarantine restricts the movement of firewood, ash logs, wood chips and ash tree nursery stock out of Iowa into non-quarantined areas of other states.
