Iowa residents have two more days to try fishing without needing to buy a license first. The Iowa Department of Natural Resource’s free fishing weekedn began yesterday and continues through tomorrow. The three day event allows unlicensed fishing, but all other regulations remain in place. The free fishing weekend is scheduled during what is traditionally the time when bluegills are close to shore and aggressive According to DNR Fisheries Biologist Chad Dolan, Crawford Pond near Ainsworth and Clemons Creek Wildlife Area are two local spots good for fishing.
