A rare opportunity to see a free air show is coming up this weekend.

The Iowa City Airport is hosting the community event for the first time since 2001. On Saturday from noon to 2pm, Fly Iowa pilots will be performing the aerial demonstrations. There will also be aircraft on display, and from 9am to 4pm the Iowa Children’s Museum is going to offer hands-on aviation activities. On Sunday, the airport is holding free plane rides for 8 to 17 years old. Gates open for the Fly Iowa Aviation Celebration at 8am Saturday.
