A trip to Hawaii for the Washington High School band was tabled at this week’s Washington School Board meeting. The board did approve the annual trip to Indianapolis for the Drum Corps International Finals. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen stated it is a great opportunity for students to travel but would like to see such trips on a routine schedule. The board requested more information regarding the Hawaii trip and discussed a four year rotation for the band and choir departments. If approved, the trip to Hawaii would be in the fall of 2016 and cost is approximately $2,000 per student. Jorgenson and board president Eric Turner are planning to meet with staff of the music department.
