IMS golf brings back a full team of both boys and girls this year, giving head coach Steve Nelson a lot of kids to choose from.

For the boys, their number two, three and four golfers from last year, in: Richard Deming, who averaged a 114 on 18; Zach Hill, who averaged a 112 on 18; and Brent Brenneman, who averaged a 115 on 18 all return

On the girls side of things, Breana Stout comes back as the top girls golfer, averaging a 119 on 18 holes, and Michaela Prihoda comes back as the number two golfer on the team with a 129 average on 18 holes.

IMS head coach Steve Nelson said last year at the start there was not a lot of success, but toward the end of the season things started to come around, and with almost the whole team back this year, he likes what he sees.

“We had a lot of kids who were first time golfers so really just learning some of the fundamentals and see that how the end of the year, we looked to compete a little bit more,” Nelson said. “We didn’t have a lot of success early in the season, but by the time we came around to sectionals and districts, we beat a couple of teams, and that is encouraging as we move forward into this year.”

IMS starts their season on April 8th against Columbus, and then will go to Wapello on April 10th. IMS will host Lone Tree on May 1st, and will play in the boys conference meet on May 8th, and the girls conference meet on May 12th. Sectionals for boys is may 16th, and Districts for girls in May 19th.
