The last inning decided things Tuesday night in Kalona as Pekin captured a conference baseball win over IMS 11-2. IMS got on the board in their first at bat as Tanner Leyden drove in Reggie Hostetler with an RBI ground out. Pekin took their first lead of the night in the fourth inning when Jayden Nicholson smacked a two run homer to right center field. Pekin continued to apply the pressure as the Panthers loaded the bases in two different innings but IMS came up with some great defensive plays to stay in it.

Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, IMS rallied with two down as Hostetler singled and was driven in on a double from Dallas Nye to tie the game. IMS got out of a major, bases loaded no one out jam in the sixth with a Payton Miller unassisted double play but were turned away in their half of the sixth by the Panthers. The Panthers took control in their final at bat, sending 14 men to the plate collecting three hits, five walks and three hit batters taking a tie game and turning it into an 11-2 lead.

Reggie Hostetler took the loss for IMS going 6 1/3 innings allowing seven hits, seven runs, walking three, hitting three and striking out five. IMS was led by Hostetler at the plate with his three hits and two runs scored. IMS is now 5-9 overall and 5-7 in conference play. IMS travels to West Branch tonight
