Planting is just about finished in Southeast Iowa. According to the Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report, this region’s corn acres are planted, with more than three quarters of those showing signs of growth. Soybean planting is around 90% done, ahead of last year and the 5 year average. Farmers are keeping an eye on soil moisture as they enter the growing season. Topsoil is beginning to struggle, right now 44% is short or very short on moisture, while 56% of subsoil is short on moisture.
