The 30th Anniversary of Riverside’s Trek Fest is this weekend. The two day event begins today at 5pm when the food booths, beer garden and carnival opens.
One new event this year is the lawn mower demo derby at 7:30pm. Organizer Mike Meinders says there’s a 20 horsepower limit for the riding mowers that are equipped with guards that protect the participants’ legs.
Meinders adds they’ll have the actors who played General Martok and Chancellor Gowron in the Star Trek series in attendance on Saturday. Over the past thirty years, some of the actors who played more prominent characters like Chekov, Uhura and Sulu have visited.
