Iowa was one of eight states to hold a primary election yesterday. According to the unofficial results, Joni Ernst is the Republican who will challenge Democrat Bruce Braley for the United State Senate seat opening up this fall. For Iowa’s second congressional district, Mariannette Miller-Meeks will face incumbent Dave Loebsack. As of 11pm last night, Representative for House District 84, Dave Heaton, had more votes than his challenger Ralph Holmstrom in the Republican primary. And with roughly half the precincts reporting, Democrat Kevin Kinney and Republican Bob Anderson were the top vote getters out of the five vying to become the next state senator for District 39.
