The first of many projects to be funded by a bond issue should be done before school starts at Mid-Prairie this fall. The school board selected the $130,000 bid, the lowest they received, for the duel heating and air conditioning unit at Washington Township Elementary. The school currently doesn’t have air conditioning, which is a problem during the beginning and end of the school year when hot days force them to cancel school. Work is expected to wrap-up in late August.

According to Superintendent Mark Schneider, their next priorities are the geothermal system and addition for the Home School Assistance Program at the Middle School. He says those bond projects are in the design phase.

Voters approved the $10,640,000 bond issue in April, and the district plans on selling them later this month.
