Window air conditioning units will be purchased and installed in the former library building in Washington. An air handler unit from the 1960s broke last week and according to City Administrator Brent Hinson, the estimated cost to repair the air handler unit is $12,500.

The building is currently rented by Washington County Public Health and the Department’s WIC clinic, or Women Infants and Children clinic, is relocating this week due to the air conditioner breaking.

City Council approved moving forward with purchasing air conditioning units not to exceed $5,000.

The WIC clinics scheduled for Thursday will be held on the 5th floor of Federation Bank at 102 East Main Street, there is elevator access and scheduled appointments will remain the same. Also, immunizations will be held on the third floor in the Public Health office.
