A wreck on Highway 1, near black Diamond Road in Johnson County, with a Kalona woman sent two people to the University of Iowa Hospitals by ambulance. Monday morning at approximately 8:05 a.m., a 2003 Honda driven by Doyle Geyer of Parnell was slowing down or stopped for a construction flagger with a stop sign. A 2005 Honda driven by 39-year-old Nicole Hall of Kalona failed to stop in a sure and clear distance and rear-ended the Geyer vehicle. The car driven by Geyer rotated 90 degrees and the rear of the vehicle hit the guard rail, the car was totaled.

Doyle Geyer sustained incapacitating injuries and 52-year-old Janet Geyer, in the front passenger seat, was also transported by amublance to the hospital. Hall’s airbag deployed but she was uninjured.

Johnson County Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.
